Sporty style or steady commute on your maxi scooter? New Battlax Scooter SC2 and SC2 Rain offer no compromise!

Bridgestone, the world’s number one tyre and rubber company[1], has applied its top Battlax motorcycle tyre technologies to upgrade its scooter tyre line-up.

From February 2018, maxi scooter riders will be able to choose between Battlax Scooter SC2, the sport tyre, and Battlax Scooter SC2 Rain, the day-to-day touring tyre for maxi scooters.

Nico Thuy, Head of Europe - Motorcycle at Bridgestone EMEA explains: “Bridgestone has moved up closer to consumers and developed two versions of the new Battlax scooter tyre to match their different usage and riding styles. And by applying our flagship Battlax tyre technologies on both versions, Battlax Scooter SC2 and SC2 Rain can promise riders unbeatable performance.”

Battlax Scooter SC2: the sport tyre for maxi scooters

Battlax Scooter SC2 focuses on dry performance and has been developed with the latest Battlax Hypersport S21 technologies. Riders will appreciate how the whole SC2 package accentuates the ease and fun of riding sporty scooters.

The front and rear SC2 hypersport tread designs provide optimum rigidity, surface contact and grip performance, with new compounds selected for their outstanding dry grip across all temperature ranges.

On the rear tyre, the triple-layer-compound tread[2] offers riders the best of both worlds: high grip and cornering contact feel from the shoulder compound and wear resistance from the centre-area compound, with maximum performance throughout the tyre life.

Battlax SC2 Rain: day-to-day touring tyre, safe and confident on wet.

Battlax Scooter SC2 Rain provides exceptional traction and handling on wet surfaces, supporting scooter riders in their daily commute. Development is based on technologies introduced by the new Battlax Sport Touring T31 tyre, promising a safe and confident ride, whatever the conditions.

Both front and rear SC2 Rain tyres use the Battlax T31 sport touring tread pattern which is tuned to balance straight-line stability and sharp handling response. Wet performance is enhanced by the higher void ratio which improves drainage, and by new rubber compounds with high silica content, offering exceptional grip feel on cold and wet surfaces.

Again, the triple-layer-compound tread on the rear[3] provides high grip and cornering contact feel from the shoulder compound and wear resistance from the centre-area compound, with maximum performance throughout the tyre life.

Battlax Scooter SC2 is available in 2 front and rear sizes; SC2 Rain offers 1 front size and 3 rear sizes.

New Battlax Adventure A41 Get ready for a new way of exploring!

Bridgestone, the world’s number one tyre and rubber company[1], has deployed its Battlax on-road expertise in the Adventure tyre segment, with the launch of Battlax Adventure A41.

For trail on-road bikers who love exploring, Adventure A41 provides top-level wet grip and handling reassurance that will help them go wherever they want, in any conditions.

The new Battlax Adventure A41 package includes Bridgestone’s triple-layer compound technology on front and rear[2], providing a balance of top handling and wear life performance, plus a cap and base configuration on the tyre shoulder that improves stability in cornering.[3]

A new Bridgestone compound, providing more grip in low temperatures and wet conditions, combines with a tread pattern designed with a higher void ratio in the shoulder area, for improved water drainage. The large-block design provides the necessary rigidity for high-speed straight and cornering stability.

In-house testing shows adventure bikers what A41 can do for them in adverse conditions: lap times on Bridgestone’s wet handling track came in up to 8% faster than the A40 predecessor.

In addition, the large contact patch (5% bigger than A40) produces greater and more even pressure distribution, helping to deliver superior grip on both wet and dry, with the same long wear life as the previous adventure tyre.

Battlax Adventure A41 is available from January 2018 with a full line-up of 7 front tyre and 9 rear tyre sizes for trail on-road bikes.

New Battlax Sport Touring T31 A combination of high-level safety and performance to raise rider confidence

Bridgestone, the world’s number one tyre and rubber company[1], has upgraded its motorcycle line-up with the launch of Battlax Sport Touring T31: a combination of high-level safety and performance to give riders full confidence in all conditions.

At the heart of the new Battlax Sport Touring T31 concept is the enhanced wet grip and handling while maximising contact feel, so that riders feel safe and in control, free to enjoy the thrill of every ride.

Working on the front compound, Bridgestone used its latest nano technology which works at the molecular level to improve the dispersion of silica in the compound mix. This increases rubber flexibility which improves the contact « bite » feel of the surface and enhances grip in wet and low-temperature conditions.

The rear tyre features a triple-layer compound in a cap and base configuration construction, providing the ideal balance between grip and cornering stability.

The T31 tread pattern is designed with a higher void ratio[2] on the shoulders, for higher water drainage, and reduced void ratio in the centre area of the rear tread, to maintain good high-speed stability. The contact patch is up to 7% larger, from upright to full lean angle, generating a higher camber thrust for more confident cornering.

Bridgestone tests confirm that T31 has a higher friction coefficient on wet than its predecessor, recording 3% faster lap times on a wet handling track.[3] The whole T31 package has been developed without sacrificing any of the outstanding wear life of its predecessor.

Nico Thuy, Head of Europe - Motorcycle, Bridgestone EMEA, summarises: « New Battlax T31 is the perfect partner for bikers who want to put the sport back in touring. With its outstanding wet grip and contact feel, T31 gives full confidence to riders. »

Battlax Sport Touring T31 is available in 8 front tyre sizes and 9 rear tyre sizes in standard construction, plus 2 front and 3 rear sizes in reinforced GT version.

New Renault Mégane R.S. and Bridgestone Potenza S001: engineered together to perform together

The New Renault Mégane R.S. has been updated with state-of-the-art technology for greater agility, efficiency and driving enjoyment. These innovations still rely on the right tyres which is why Bridgestone engineered every aspect of the Potenza S001 to match the new design of the iconic French hot hatch.

A tailored approach was a must for the New Renault Mégane R.S. ‘This is a very different vehicle,’ explains Laurent Hurgon, Renault’s development driver for the new model. ‘It has a more powerful engine and the suspension as well as the four-wheel-steering system have been recreated. Bridgestone engineered the Potenza S001 tyres to respond to this and maximise the benefits of these innovations.’
