Firestone Launches Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN
The new Touring Tyre that Provides Highest-Rated Wet Grip, Longer Mileage and Optimised Fuel Consumption
- The new Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN summer tyre offers best-in-class wet grip1, 20 percent longer mileage than the original Firestone Roadhawk2 and a more than 10 percent rolling resistance reduction to optimise fuel/energy consumption2.
- Significant performance upgrades from the Firestone Roadhawk’s previous generation are made thanks to the integration of ENLITEN technology – also ensuring that the Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN is an EV-ready tyre.
- The latest tyre from Firestone will be available starting 2024 in 19 more sizes than the original Firestone Roadhawk.
Firestone is launching the Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN, the successor to its summer touring tyre, Roadhawk. Engineered with the innovative tyre technology platform ENLITEN, the latest tyre from Firestone provides best-in-class wet grip1, enhanced mileage and improved fuel/energy consumption compared to its previous generation. The latest Firestone addition is also EV-ready.
Enhanced performance to meet everyday challenges
With heavy traffic, sudden braking and motorway speed all part of the daily mix of challenges on the roads, the Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN enables motorists to stay in control of their everyday journeys.
The tyre is engineered with ENLITEN, a combination of cutting-edge technologies providing maximum safety, outstanding tyre performance and improved sustainability characteristics. In the case of the Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN, this is combined with an innovative mixing technology and the integration of NanoPro-Tech, a high silica content compound that provides robust abrasion resistance and longer mileage.
The result is a tyre with significant performance upgrades from the Firestone Roadhawk’s previous generation. The Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN offers best-in-class wet grip that was awarded the EU label A-grade, alongside 20 percent longer mileage than the original Firestone Roadhawk.2 This is combined with a 12 percent rolling resistance reduction to optimise vehicle fuel/energy consumption.2
Thanks to the use of ENLITEN in the latest release from Firestone – which was developed at Bridgestone’s Rome-based R&D Centre – the tyre is EV-ready. This means it is capable of meeting both the general performance demands of any vehicle and the specific requirements of electric vehicles.
Increased coverage, representing 90% of the MID summer market
The latest tyre from Firestone is available from January 2024 in Europe and the Middle East in sizes from 17” to 21”. With 19 additional sizes than the original Roadhawk, the Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN launches with an increased focus on the HRD/HRD+ segment, and covers 90 percent of the total MID summer market. 16” sizes will be available from January 2025, taking the total available sizes to 112.
“Everyday drivers are demanding safety on the roads and, in this current climate, increased value for money,” says Steven De Bock, Vice President Consumer Replacement and OE at Bridgestone EMIA. “The Roadhawk has represented the best of Firestone, and now we’ve taken it to another level by introducing the incredible capabilities of ENLITEN with the Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN. And as an EV-ready tyre that’s available in a wider collection of sizes, this tyre’s performance benefits can be brought to many more drivers.”
1 The Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN has an EU label A-grade wet grip rating.
2 Based on the internal data comparison of Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN vs Firestone Roadhawk, ref. size 225/55 R17 101W.
